The core documents almost every tender needs
These are the items you will be asked for again and again. Treat them as your standing pack.

Understanding each item
CSD registration
Since 2016, the Central Supplier Database is the single place government sources suppliers. Registration is free and gives you a supplier number (often called a MAAA number). Your CSD profile also pulls your SARS and banking status, so keeping it current matters more than any single certificate.
Tax Compliance Status PIN
SARS no longer issues the old paper tax clearance. Instead you generate a Tax Compliance Status PIN on eFiling and give it to the buyer, who uses it to check your status live. Keep your tax affairs current, because a "non-compliant" status can sink an otherwise strong bid.
B-BBEE affidavit
Most tenders award preference points for B-BBEE. An Exempted Micro Enterprise (annual turnover under R10 million) can use a free sworn B-BBEE affidavit rather than a full certificate. A Qualifying Small Enterprise (R10 million to R50 million) and larger businesses generally need a verified certificate.
The SBD forms
Standard Bidding Documents are the forms bound into the tender itself - for example the SBD 4 (declaration of interest), SBD 6.1 (preference points claim), SBD 8 (declaration of bidder's past practices) and SBD 9 (certificate of independent bid determination). They must be completed accurately and signed. Blank or contradictory SBD forms are a common reason for disqualification.

Depending on what you supply and to whom, add:
- COIDA Letter of Good Standing - proof you are registered with the Compensation Fund, required for many tenders where you place workers on a site.
- CIDB registration - a grading from the Construction Industry Development Board, essential for public construction and infrastructure tenders.
- Municipal account or lease - a recent rates and services account or signed lease for your registered address.
- Professional or industry accreditations - health, security (PSIRA), electrical (ECB) and similar, where the work demands them.
